There are a lot of guys who really want to join merchant navy but they fall into wrong hands and
are misguided by agents and fake institutes that eat into their hard earned parents money. There
are always certain things you should know before doing any marine related courses or entering into merchant navy.
Recently I had a chance to come across a community that have been active in social media -Facebook (Merchant navy Fake Agents) who are bringing out those agents who have cheated
candidates who have cleared their training in some institutes who don't provide any job ,hots off to these guys for their initiative. Most of these institutes even though have DG (Directorate General of Shipping) recognition
dont provide any placements and are producing surplus of seafarers who dont have a job;lot of them have switched over to other jobs in IT or call centers.
As a rule anyone joining Merchant navy should should first find out wether the institute is DG recognized;once confirmed that its DG recognized ,find out wether they will issue an Indian CDC and a placement. If all these criteria are met then you may go ahead and join.Never give exams from countries
other than India,U.K and Singapore as far as possible so that chances of getting jobs are more.
Do not obtain any other CDC like for eg. BELIZE by paying lakhs of rupees they even give masters and chief enggs COC with only experience and paying huge amounts but are not valid and you wont get a job.
As far as possible go through merit only and not through agents as they dont have any accountability and losing a huge amount will be the only end results. And most importantly join merchant navy only if you are really intersted as wasting a lot of your parents money experimenting is not a good idea
and there are a lots of other courses and jobs available at present in the market and also the pay is not bad.

Hello Vipin Sir,
Some institutes in India do provide courses in which they say, 1st stage should be taught in India and the next stage is in partner University in UK(MCA Approved). and the course leads to UK CoC. Do you have any such Institutes which really do offer such courses or every such institutes are fraud agents.
