Fire Control
Plan
The ship’s Fire Control Plan is
an important training and reference document.
It is a graphic representation of the ship’s general layout, deck by
deck, showing the fire control systems, equipment, and related
information. A reference-key and symbols
show the location of the ship’s fire stations, fire fighting systems/equipment,
and relevant control panels. The
deck-by-deck presentation, allows the viewer to locate their position aboard
the ship, as well as, the escape routes and location emergency exits, and
firefighting equipment.
Copies of the plan should be
located and mounted at the following locations:
·
Bridge
·
Engine Control Room
·
Emergency Gear Lockers
·
Each Gangway (stowed in red-painted cylinders)
All crewmembers should have a
working knowledge of the plan with regards to the general layout of the ship,
location of emergency escape routes and exits, firefighting equipment locations
including fire extinguishers and Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBDs),
fire stations and the location of fire and emergency muster stations.
