A pump can be simply defined as a machine that transports fluids from one place to another. There are many different types of pumps but they can all be classified as one of two basic types;
1)                  Rotodynamic
2)                  Positive displacement.
Rotodynamic pumps use the principle of energy conversion to transport fluid.
Positive displacement pumps physically enclose a volume of fluid and force it in the direction of pumping.
