SAFETY IN WELDING


1) Welding is only to be carried out when holding a valid permit to work.

2) All personnel involved in the operation should be familiar with the operation.

3) The Work area should be adequately illuminated.

4) As fumes and smoke are generated during welding sufficient ventilation should be provided.

5) Protective gear should be worn – goggles/ mask, gloves, apron safety shoes, etc.

6) Fire precautions to be taken – cleanliness, surrounding compartments, prevent sparks from entering other compartments.

Prior to welding in tanks – specially oil tanks, gas free certificate and hot work permit to be obtained.

Fire rounds to be taken even after the work is completed.

The welding area should be dry and clean.

 Approved welding equipments to be used with all safety features.
